Mitzah Bricard

*

It's #TBT

which means

that we return once more to our #SocietyGirlsGuide to Style Icons

with this week's

feature being

* Hat Designer

* Chief Stylist

and

* Endless muse to Christian Dior himself

Mitzah Bricard

*

Nigel Cawthorne

Author of

1996's

The New Look: The Dior Revolution

had this to say

in regards to

Mitzah

"...Germaine 'Mizza'Bricard,

who had once been a Demi-Mondaine

-That is, an expensive prostitute-.

'Nowadays', she was heard saying,

'Society women have brought the profession into

direpute.

They'll go to bed for a cafe creme.'

Madame Bricard was moody, excessive

and perpetually late.

She never rose before two in the afternoon

and wore a new dress every day.

But Dior saw her as the epitome of

Urban Sophistication.

She was his muse."

*

But

Aren't all of the great women

who've been immortalized

for sincerly practicing

The Art Of LIVING Well

marked with infamous legends such as these?

Must know that

dark portions of your past

and

the truth of your character

are not made to be hidden,

as it all contributes to who you are today

and provides strength

to your overall allure.

"Irrational" & "Absurb"

Behavioral patterns and personal choices

are neccessary ingredients

for creating

a worthwhile personality.

*

But on another note

back to

Mitzah

She had a penchant for:

* Lilac,

* Pearls,

and

* Leopard Print.

Christian Dior

included leopard print

in each of his collections

because of her influence.

*

She was Paris born

and known for:

transforming the ordinary into fashionable

"Madame Bricard is one of the rare people

for whom elegance is their sole

reason for living." - Christian Dior

Upon catching the sight of Catherine,

Christian's sister, entering

The Dior Couture Studio

on Avenue Montaigne

this happened:

Mitzah: "Voila Miss. Dior"

Christian Dior: "Miss.Dior,

now there's the name for my perfume."

*

Francois Demachy

paid tribute to

Mitzah

by creating a fragrance that carries her name.

*

The House of Dior

did the same

in 2011 by releasing

a limited edition make up collection

bearing her name as well.

*

In 2010

John Galliano

then head designer at Dior

crafted

the 2010 resort collection

afer her

and placed these sentiments in the program notes

of that collection's show:

"A woman of infamous luxury. Bricard never arrived

at the office before midday and when asked if she

had a favorite florist, unblinkingly replied,

'Certainly.... Chez Cartier.' "

*

There is much to be taken from this piece

about the woman described on the Christian Dior site as

"An extremely sensual woman, with divinely chic

allure and captivaiting presence."

Take from all this what you will

and leave behind thoughts

of whatever it is you feel

you have no use for

(which should be nothing

for it all contributes to

the ever expanding

appeal of every #societygirl)

but

No matter what

always remember to reply

Cartier

when anyone inquires about your florist

it is now a

#Societygirl Must Do.

*

As always

there's plenty of

fabulous things happening on

IG

Meet us there

and

join in on the fun!

xoxo,

Darling Bonnie & Co.
