Alexa Chung & Other Career Options
Hey
who grew up in the 90s Imagine this: We're in the future,
2014 And while there are no flying cars As indicated in many of our
classroom weekly readers There are
fly career options. Options that we've created for ourselves.
* Remember,Remember
We are of the generation That's responsible for the apps
we frequent on our celluars
the generation responsible for
social media and online magazines like
Matchbook, Rue, & Lonny
and
the advanced development
of culture in general on
and offline.
We are the creative kids
who grew up digesting
original shows
like
Clarissa explains It All,
Guts, Wild & Crazy Kids,
Legends of the Hidden Temple,
Doug, Rugrats,
and other things like
Disney's 1 Saturday Morning.
Back when they impolored you
to go outside and play,
use your imagination,
and having
a designated clubhouse
was the thing to do.
It has served &
is still serving us
well.
So why then feel restricted,
as if We were bred to lead the same lives
of our parentals.
WRONG. We are generation
THRIVE. Young divas with multiple hustles Who date gentlemen
that make a way for themselves
using their own
wits and talents
not from an inheritance or
from the cublice of someone else's office space.
We can and DO,
do things like market our Techniques via Youtube videos, Make an income
off of our own curated style
by monetizing our blogs, And make great music to sell independently
in the Sam Goode of 2014
otherwise known as
iTunes.
There are options like being
Alexa Chung IT Girl, Model, British Vogue Contributing Editor,
Author of book 'IT GIRL',
Fashonista, and Television Personality in England.
Born in '83 and a homegirl of multiple hustles, she is.
She is one of us.
Or even look at one of Darling Society's
very own Amina Brooks
Popular nightlife extraordinaire
responsible for some of the hottest events
The Supperclub SF
has to offer
and all she's had & needed was
Husband & Business Partner
So why then I ask you,
are you restricting yourself.
Tap into your truth and be that,
live that,
and what's more
Be committed to making a living from that.
How to figure out your career options
Let us not confuse job with career.
1st and foremost
Even some of those who proclaim to have a
career
still only merely have a job
The #societygirls definition
of a job is
working somewhere that you:
* only show up to for the money,
* thoroughly disenjoy,
or
* doing something that you wouldn't want to be
doing in your spare time.
* Something that you have
no freedom with and little control over.
A career
is something that you are:
* Passionate about
* something that you'd sacrafice for
* Make trips to the ends of the earth on account of
* Something that you go to bed satisfied with
and wake up happy to hustle for.
* Something that you believe in and love.
The Key is to begin and don't stop
Here are the
TWO
simple things
you need to do
to figure out your
career options
* No.01: Be honest with yourself about yourself
and
* No.02: Be honest about what you'd do if
you weren't afraid.
From there you need to just set the wheels in motion.
*Draw out a plan of what you'd want that career
to look like
* Create a vision board
* Research it to no end
* Figure out an innovative & cute way
to present it.
* Take it all one step at a time & be patient.
* Work hard for it and towards it .
and remember
in this day and age
it's important
to have a
BRAND
No matter what it is
you're doing
BRAND IT
Find your own special niche
and Personalize
whatever it is you're doing.
Make it all an extension of you,
your truest self.
From there
you need only build
and stay committed,
All of the pieces will fall into place
TRUST & BELIEVE!
in the interim if you must keep a job to keep the lights on,
do so
but just don't ever give up on whats truly for you.
